4 years agoChicago Cubs shortstop Javier Baez 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and walk on Thursday versus the Pittsburgh Pirates. Baez was just 3-for-22 entering the game, but now has two home runs in his last four games. The All-Star opened the season in the number six hole, but manager David Ross had him hitting cleanup in this contest. Baez has hit between the cleanup spot and the sixth spot of the order this year. The shortstop is up for free agency after this year and that should add extra motivation to a player that doesn't seem to need to much of it. Baez can be inconsistent at times, but he offer pop and speed to the shortstop position.--Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller
