Yermin Mercedes Crushes Second Home Run
4 years agoChicago White Sox catcher/designated Yermin Mercedes continues to hit the baseball and has become one of the nicer stories in baseball this season. Mercedes absolutely crushed a 481 foot solo home run off of Brad Keller in the bottom of the second inning. Mercedes has been unstoppable on the young season and finished the contest 2-for-4. Mercedes is now hitting an absurd .556 with two home runs and seven RBI. The late bloomer looks to have a found an everyday role for now and has given manager Tony La Russa no reason to bench him. Mercedes has always hit the ball in the minor leagues, but this has been his first action in the big leagues and it will be interesting to see how he adjusts to pitcher when they adjust to him. Mercedes should no longer be available on the waiver wire and managers should continue to start him until he cools off.
