4 years agoOakland Athletics catcher Sean Murphy went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in a loss to the Astros on Monday. The sophomore backstop is hitless in five games this season with his only production being three walks in 18 plate appearances. Murphy is hitting the ball well with a 50 percent hard-hit rate which is in line with the 49 percent rate he posted as a rookie, so fantasy managers should be patient with the 26-year-old. Murphy posted a .821 OPS last season so the upside is there for him to be a contributor at fantasy's weakest position. Despite his long-term upside, benching Murphy in a tough matchup with Lance McCullers on Friday in favor of a streamer seems like a good idea given the struggles plaguing Murphy early in the season.--Mike Schwarzenbach - RotoBaller
