4 years agoToronto Blue Jays reliever David Phelps will serve as the opener on Friday night against the Los Angeles Angels. Young starter T.J. Zeuch, who was originally expected to begin the game, will likely follow Phelps. The veteran reliever has already appeared in four games this season and has yet to allow an earned run in four innings. Given the limited stamina shown to date, Phelps isn't likely to go more than two innings. Last season, he appeared in 22 games — all in relief — and posted a 6.53 ERA with a K-BB of 31-5 in 20.2 innings. It's possible that manager Charlie Montoyo is looking to limit Zeuch's exposure to the Angels' big hitters at the top of the lineup.--Marc Hulet - RotoBaller
