BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 26% of leagues
ANALYSIS: New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo has been an on-base machine through the first four games of the season. He now boasts a .429/.579/.571 slash line over 19 plate appearances, including five walks. After batting eighth in the season opener, Nimmo has been at the top of the order for the last three games. Based on his on-base skill set, he should be cemented into the leadoff spot for the majority of the season. He will serve as the place setter for the rest of the lineup including Francisco Lindor, Michael Conforto, and Pete Alonso.
In 2020, Nimmo posted a .280/.404/.484 line with eight home runs and 18 RBI (roughly an 18-20 HR, 50 RBI campaign over a full season). The early returns on 2021 suggest Nimmo is building off of his 2020 bounceback.
While he won’t contribute eye-popping numbers in the HR and RBI departments, Nimmo will provide managers with solid average, elite on-base percentage, and a large number of runs at the top of the Mets' lineup. Given his solid defense, playing time won't be lost to the likes of Kevin Pillar or Albert Almora, Jr. Managers, especially those in OBP leagues, would be wise to grab the severely under-owned Nimmo quickly before it’s too late.
