That said, Clase was called on to close Friday’s 4-1 win over the Tigers, the second save opportunity for the Indians, which he successfully did in a very convincing fashion.
Despite the save recorded by Clase on Friday, the closer situation in Cleveland remains fluid in the early days of 2021. Wittgren, coming off a 2020 campaign in which he posted a 3.42 ERA, a 1.01 WHIP, 10 holds, and 28 strikeouts in 23 2/3 innings pitched, is certainly in the mix. In leagues where saves are scarce, Wittgren should be targeted by managers in the next FAB run. While he may not be the lone closing option in Cleveland, he can still provide precious save totals to go with solid ratios and a decent number of strikeouts. Notably, in leagues that reward holds, Wittgren should certainly be rostered if he isn't already.
