4 years agoTampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Brent Honeywell Jr. has been called up and will be used as the opener for Sunday's game against the Yankees, according to Adam Berry of MLB.com. Once the top pitching prospect in the Rays organization and a top-100 prospect in MLB, Honeywell has not appeared in a regular season game since 2017 with the Durham Bulls, as he has undergone four surgeries on his right elbow since 2018. His value will be limited as he will only pitch an inning or two as the opener, but this will be one of the biggest feel-good storylines of the season. If he sticks around with the team after Chris Archer's return from the injured list, Honeywell has some fantasy potential as a high-strikeout pitcher, but that will be mostly canceled out as he will almost certainly be on very rigid pitch and innings limitations.--Michael Grennell - RotoBaller
