Santiago Espinal Bangs Out Three Hits After Recall
4 years agoToronto Blue Jays infielder Santiago Espinal equaled a career-best with three hits during Saturday's 15-1 clubbing of the Los Angeles Angels. The rookie infielder, who was added to the active roster prior to the game, was playing third base in the place of Cavan Biggio who had the night off. Espinal also scored two runs and drove in one runner. Last season in 60 at-bats, he hit .267 with a 73 wRC+. With the club currently banged up a bit, the former Red Sox prospect may see a few more games of action this week but he'll likely spend the year taxiing between the majors and the minors as the club's main infield depth option. He's known mostly for his defensive contributions and has limited offensive upside.
