Randal Grichuk Stays Hot With Improved Approach
4 years agoToronto Blue Jays outfielder Randal Grichuk continued his hot hitting with a 2-for-4 performance during the club's 15-1 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday. Along with his single and double, the 29-year-old outfielder also walked and drove in three runs. Grichuk is now hitting .344 (11-for-32) this season and is showing an improved approach at the plate. His 11% walk rate is almost twice his career rate of 5.8%. His 19.4% strikeout rate is well below his career rate of 27.6%. Whether those rates continue remains to be seen. Grichuk also figures to lose some playing time when the regular outfielders return: George Springer (quad), Teoscar Hernandez (COVID-19 exposure), and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. (vaccine side effects).
