German Marquez Gets No Run Support As Rockies Are Swept In SF
4 years agoColorado Rockies right-handed pitcher German Marquez took the loss on Sunday when surrendered three runs on six hits with seven strikeouts and three walks in a 4-0 loss to the San Francisco Giants. Marquez dealt with a little bad luck in this one as three of the six hits he allowed drove in runs. He served up a solo home run to Alex Dickerson in the first inning before Evan Longoria poked an RBI single later in the frame. Brandon Belt then jacked his second long ball of the season in the bottom of the sixth inning. He did manage to strike out a season-high seven batters but he received no run support from the offense. The 26-year-old righty has been decent in the early going but nothing special. He now owns an 0-1 record with a 4.02 ERA, 1.79 WHIP, and an ugly 14:11 K/BB ratio over 15 2/3 innings. He gets the New York Mets at home in his next turn, which is shaping up to be a tough start.
