Joey Votto Slumps To .162
4 years agoCincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto's struggles continued on Sunday. The veteran went 0-for-3 in a 7-0 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks, dropping his batting average to .162 with just three runs and three RBI in 37 at-bats. Votto missed a large portion of the spring due to the COVID-19 virus. That could explain some of his struggles, but the first baseman has also been showing signs of decline for a few years now. Perhaps most concerning is the fact that Votto has walked just twice on the year after being consistently among the league leaders in that area during his peak seasons. Votto is hard to trust as a fantasy asset at this point in his career.
