NHL DFS Prop Picks for 4/13 - PrizePicks

Hello everybody and welcome! We bring you another edition of NHL DFS on PrizePicks and that means our friends over at PrizePicks have a TON of great props we can look to take advantage of. PrizePicks is a great DFS props site where you can choose to select plays in terms of fantasy points or single stats. The goal is to build a 2-player, 3-player, 4-player, or 5-player entry and then select whether or not you want to play for the power play or the flex play. On the power play, you will need to be correct on each of your selections to win, and on the flex play, you will have a little more wiggle room for a chance to win some money back.

Our partners at PrizePicks offer some of the best, and easiest to win, NHL DFS games in the industry. There are no large-field tournaments filled with sharks where you have to get lucky just to place. At PrizePicks, you're not playing against other people, you're just playing against the projections, and the guys at PrizePicks have worked hard to give you really attractive opportunities to make some money. With promo code 'BALLER' you can get a 100% match on your deposit up to $100.

PrizePicks has two types of games. The first type of game is known as Fantasy Score, which consists of selecting various players and trying to determine if they will go over or under their projected fantasy points in a game. The second game is known as Single Stat. For NHL, Single Stat consists of save and shooter shot props in which you determine if the goalie or shooter in question will go over or under their projected save and shot total respectively. You can mix and match players from each type of game in your entry or select all of your plays from the same type of game. Once you have selected your players and props, you can choose the aforementioned flex play or power play option. For today's article, we are going to try and focus on the main board's Fantasy Score and see which players may go over or under their projected point totals. Let's see what the board offers today!

Fantasy Score Point Totals

Alex Ovechkin Over 4.6 Points. Ovechkin is still performing at an otherworldly level err Ovechkin's level. More importantly, Ovechkin is back up over four shots a game lately after the early cold first month of the season. Even his shooting percentage, which was in single digits is back up to 13.5% -- which is around his 12.8% career average. There is little concern tonight as Washington plays the Philadelphia Flyers and that is a team who often combines for higher-scoring outcomes. Ovechkin has 24 shots in his last five games including ten over the weekend on 16 shot attempts!  In the previous five contests, the left-winger has three goals and three assists too, and three power-play points.

Roman Josi Over 3.1 Points. Nashville is still playing well and Josi has been an integral part of that. He had an off night in his first game of the miniseries against the Dallas Stars. Josi had two shots on goal, no blocked shots, and no points. So, it would seem to be prudent to take the under here. However, we take a bold risk on Tuesday. Actually, it has been three games without a point but who's counting. Tonight may be a night where Josi gets on the scoresheet. This is total guesswork with Josi but expect a better night tonight.

Jack Hughes Over 2.6 Points. We like the risk here with Hughes on what could be a high-scoring night in Newark as the New Jersey Devils take on the New York Rangers. Because of New Jersey's porous defense at home, most will take a New York Rangers player or two and we will have one or two to consider. Hughes is starting to take over once again. He has four or more shots in three of his last five games with five points in this span. The crazy thing is that Hughes has hit four posts and a crossbar too. There are plays that the forward has made this year which he could not last season. The prop here is low and the idea is to take advantage of this against a Rangers team that will give up their fair share of chances much like New Jersey does.

Mika Zibanejad Over 3.6 Points. This seems a bit low of a total for Zibanejad and there is some risk here. One can argue to take Artemi Panarin (3.6 points as well) in a package deal and that is not a bad idea. New Jersey has the worst penalty kill at home on the slate (less than 70%). New York's power play is close to 25% in its last ten contests. The over/under probably should be taken also. Expect Zibanejad and Panarin to enjoy a lot of rushes and opportunities against the youngest team in the NHL. New Jersey's average age is now under 25. Both players should be able to tally three or more shots tonight and have an elevated potential to tally multiple points too.

Sam Reinhart Over 2.9 Points. Reinhart is in play only because his total is low enough. Someone has to score in Buffalo and Reinhart did score a goal in his last game versus the Boston Bruins. This is the diciest prop of the night. Even Taylor Hall is with the Boston Bruins now but the feeling is Reinhart could play 20+ minutes tonight and Boston's defense is missing four regulars. The forward does have three points in his last five games too. Sometimes just taking your shot is the most prudent decision. We take the over here as well in a bullish Tuesday night in the NHL.
