Dominic Smith Hits Second Homer Of Season
4 years agoNew York Mets first baseman/outfielder Dominic Smith belted a two-run home run in the Mets' first game of a doubleheader against the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday. Smith, batting third for the first time this season, went 1-for-4 in the contest with just the HR. In the nightcap, Smith went 0-for-4, dropping his average to just .217 on the season over 23 at-bats. With just five hits on the season, two of which are HR, Smith, much like most of the Mets' lineup, needs to get his bat going. Smith is coming off a breakout campaign in 2020 and can potentially return 30-plus HR over the course of a full season. Fantasy managers should continue to keep Smith active, despite the slow start and possibility of losing some playing time if he is regularly removed from games for defensive purposes. Smith has the potential to fill up the box score on any given day especially given the fact that manager Luis Rojas has him now hitting third between Francisco Lindor and Pete Alonso. Managers who remain patient with Smith will be rewarded.
