4 years agoChicago White Sox rookie first baseman/outfielder Andrew Vaughn will start and bat seventh on Wednesday versus the Cleveland Indians. Vaughn is the White Sox top hitting prospect and made the team out of camp, but manager Tony La Russa has limited the rookies play early on with Nick Williams getting three of the last four starts in left field. Vaughn is 2-for-14 on the young season, but has drawn five walks and struck out six times. Vaughn is a good contact and power hitter with a bright future and La Russa would be wise to start giving him more chances. Outfielder Adam Engel (hamstring) is aiming to return next weekend and if La Russa continues to favor Williams over Vaughn it would make sense to send the rookie to the minor leagues to get everyday at-bats. Managers should still hold out hope that La Russa will come around to the rookie and he can be a very helpful contributor if he reaches his potential.--Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller
