4 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher David Peterson bounced back in a big way on Wednesday in the Mets' 5-1 win over Philadelphia. In his second start of the season against the same Phillies who got him for six earned runs over four-plus innings a week ago, Peterson went six innings allowing just one earned run, two hits, no walks, and ten strikeouts to raise his record to 1-1 on the season. Peterson exhibited incredible control becoming only the ninth left-hander in MLB history to record 10 strikeouts and no walks since 1901. The velocity on his fastball was up to 95 mph-plus and his sinker velocity was around 93.9 mph. In addition, against a team he has historically struggled against, Peterson's overall Called Strike Plus Whiff Rate on Thursday was 38.5% and the CSW on his slider was 50%. Overall, it was an extremely impressive performance from Peterson who came into the game as a very questionable streamer start. Fantasy managers may want to wait to see more consistency from Peterson before starting him in mixed formats. That said, he is currently scheduled to next face the Cubs in Chicago next Tuesday, barring any rainouts, in what should be a favorable matchup for him.--Nick Ritrivi - RotoBaller
