Joey Votto Hitting The Ball Well Despite Lack Of Results
4 years agoCincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto is off to a slow start in 2021, slashing just .184/.216/.306 with two homers, five runs, and six RBI through 49 at-bats. Despite the sluggish start, Votto is showing encouraging signs at the plate. According to MLB.com's Mark Sheldon, Votto is leading the team with an average exit velocity of 94 MPH, is tied for the team lead with 9.8% of barrels per plate appearance, and has an expected batting average of .318. All of this goes to say that Votto is suffering from bad luck at the plate and is likely to put together a hot stretch if he keeps hitting the ball hard. Fantasy gamers may want to consider adding Votto if they have room and come across the veteran first baseman sitting out there on waivers.
