4 years agoTexas Rangers pitcher Kolby Allard threw three shutout innings of relief during the club's 5-2 loss on Friday against the Baltimore Orioles. The lefty did not allow a hit or a walk and struck out five batters. He regularly found the strike zone and threw 32 of his 45 pitches for strikes (71%). With a K-BB of 9-0 this season, Allard has maintained plus control through his five innings of work and he's allowed just two hits. The club's starting pitching has been improving but if it ends up in need of assistance in that area, the 23-year-old southpaw could be the first pitcher called upon to help. Interestingly, Allard was optioned to the minors at the end of spring training before getting an early recall and becoming one of the club's most reliable relievers.--Marc Hulet - RotoBaller
