Santiago Espinal Called Up, Starting At Third Base
4 years agoToronto Blue Jays infielder Santiago Espinal has been called up as the 27th man for today's doubleheader against the Kansas City Royals. The young infielder is playing third base with Cavan Biggio (hand) day-to-day with a hand injury that was suffered in Thursday's game. Espinal was up earlier this season and went 3-for-5 with a double in his lone game. The former Boston Red Sox prospect is known more for his defensive contributions and offers minimal fantasy value due to his modest offensive contributions. First baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is also able to cover third base should Biggio's injury cause him to be out longer than expected.
