Daniel Bard Blows The Save And Takes The Loss On Saturday
4 years agoColorado Rockies right-hander Daniel Bard blew the save and took a loss in Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the New York Mets. Bard allowed two runs on four hits with two strikeouts over one inning as the Rockies lost 4-3. He entered in the top of the seventh inning with Colorado holding a 3-2 lead as he attempted to convert his third save opportunity of the season. Bard unraveled from the get-go as he gave up four straight hits, including an RBI double from Jonathan Villar and RBI single off the bat of Francisco Lindor. He ended up getting out of the inning but the damage was done. The 35-year-old now has a 4.76 ERA, 1.94 WHIP, and 9:3 K/BB ratio over 5 2/3 innings this year. This was his first blown save but he hasn't gotten many opportunities with the Rockies posting a 3-11 record to begin the year.
