White Sox Promote Jonathan Stiever As 27th Man On Sunday
4 years agoThe Chicago White Sox have promoted starting pitcher Jonathan Stiever as their 27th man for Sunday's doubleheader versus the Boston Red Sox. Stiever throws a nasty curveball and could be an option to start Game 2 on Sunday. The right-hander struggled in two starts with the Pale Hose in 2020 and allowed seven runs in 6 1/3 innings with four walks and three strikeouts. The good news is that he owns a career 3.95 ERA with a 1.17 WHIP to go along with 10 K/9 between two minor league seasons in rookie ball and Single-A. The White Sox have not announced their Game 2 starter, but Stiever can be avoided even if he does draw the start.
