4 years agoChicago White Sox first baseman/outfielder Andrew Vaughn will sit out Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader versus the Boston Red Sox. Manager Tony La Russa has been reluctant to give Vaughn the playing time many expected, but the White Sox recently forced his hand by designating outfielder Nick Williams for assignment. Vaughn is hitting just .160 in 25 at-bats this season with zero home runs and one RBI, but he has drawn five walks and only struck out seven times. Vaughn is one of the best power and contact first base prospects and should be able to put up strong numbers if he gets the opportunity and reaches his potential. Managers in deeper redraft leagues should remain patient for now and it could pay off if La Russa starts to give him everyday at-bats. Vaughn should remain owned in all dynasty leagues. Corner infielder Jake Lamb will replace Vaughn in the lineup for Game 1 and bat eighth versus Tanner Houck. Lamb is hitless in seven at-bats this season and can be avoided in DFS on Sunday.--Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller
