4 years agoNew York Yankees designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Sunday's loss to the Rays. Stanton's homer was his third of the season- and his second in the last three games. The 31-year-old slugger continues to hit the ball hard, as evidenced by his whopping 60.6 percent hard-hit rate, though his plate discipline- 32.7 percent strikeout rate compared to 7.3 percent walk rate- leaves much to be desired. Despite his- and the Yankees'- slow starts, Stanton leads the team with 12 RBI. He'll get a day off on Monday before preparing to face a familiar foe, the Atlanta Braves, in a two-game set. Stanton doesn't own a hit in eight career at-bats against Tuesday's scheduled starter, Charlie Morton.--Tim Capurso
