Garrett Hampson Doubles And Swipes A Bag
4 years agoColorado Rockies' second baseman Garrett Hampson went 2-for-4 with a double, a stolen base, and two runs scored in a 6-3 win over the Astros on Wednesday. Hampson hit his fourth double of the season, scored a pair of runs, and swiped his fifth bag of the year. He started at second base for the fifth time this season but dropped to seventh in the batting order. He hit in the six spot in the Rockies' previous game as well so perhaps manager Bud Black is done experimenting with the speedster at the top of the lineup. He's slashing .254/313/.373 with one home run, seven RBI, and a 17:6 K/BB rate over 59 at-bats. His inability to get on base at a consistent clip is likely the main reason he's dropped in the batting order. Hampson is still serviceable in mixed leagues with his speed but you'll need some batting average and on-base percentage balancers in your lineup to make up for his lack of both.
