Javier Baez Hits Grand Slam In Cubs Victory
4 years agoChicago Cubs shortstop Javier Baez went 1-for-4 with three runs scored and a grand slam in Wednesday's blowout victory against the New York Mets. Baez even batted left-handed with the Cubs up 14-4 in the bottom of the eighth and popped out and Mets infielder Luis Guillorme on the mound. Baez has 31 strikeouts this season and just one walk, but he has hit five home runs and driven in 16 runs to go with five steals with a .203 batting average this season. Baez is starting to warm up and has two home runs over his last five games. The talented shortstop hasn't helped managers with batting average, but he will provide power and speed to be a valuable player in all formats.
