Amir Garrett Blows Save On Wednesday
4 years agoCincinnati Reds closer Amir Garrett allowed a three-run homer in the ninth inning in a 10-inning, 8-5 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday. He struck out one and walked two on the way to being charged with his first blown save of the season. Garrett was asked to preserve a 3-0 lead in the ninth but instead he struggled with his control, throwing just 10 of 25 pitches for strikes. The veteran reliever now has a 0-1 record, 16.20 ERA, two saves, and four strikeouts in five innings of work. Garrett is still considered the team's primary closer but he may start to lose more save chances to current setup man Lucas Sims.
