Pete Alonso Blasts Mammoth Home Run On Wednesday
4 years agoNew York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso, who is off to a slow start to the 2021 campaign, blasted a monstrous two-run home in the Mets' lopsided 16-4 loss to the Cubs on Wednesday. Alonso's home run, which had an exit velocity of 115.4 mph and traveled 429 feet, was one of the lone bright spots in an otherwise embarrassing loss for the Mets. Alonso went 1-for-4 on the day, with the HR as his lone hit. Alonso is now batting .229 with a .458 slugging percentage over his first 48 at-bats of the season, to go with three HR and nine RBI. Hopefully, Alonso's HR on Wednesday will jump-start his bat to the benefit of fantasy managers and the Mets. Alonso is one of the game's top power hitters and, despite the early season struggles, he should remain active in all formats.
