4 years agoHouston Astros starting pitcher Cristian Javier was dominant in Thursday's win over the Angels. Javier pitched five shutout innings, allowing three hits and one walk while fanning nine batters. The 24-year-old raced out of the gate, becoming the first Astros pitcher to record the first eight outs of a game via the strikeout since 1986. Javier's fastball-slider combo was devastating on Thursday night, as the two offerings combined for 19 of his 21 whiffs. Javier hasn't allowed a run in his last 10 innings pitched- and owns a 1.32 ERA, 0.88 WHIP, and 20:3 strikeout-to-walk ratio in two starts this year. He needs to be scooped up off waivers wherever available ahead of his next start against the Mariners.--Tim Capurso
