Kyle Hendricks Earns First Victory Of 2021
4 years agoChicago Cubs starting pitcher Kyle Hendricks picked up his first victory of the season on Friday versus the Milwaukee Brewers. Hendricks cruised through the first five innings, but gave up back-to-back solo home runs to second baseman Kolton Wong and outfielder Billy McKinney. Hendricks was still able to pick up the quality start and finished with a line of six innings with six hits, two runs, one walk and six strikeouts. Hendricks has now made four starts with two quality starts versus the Brewers, but two discouraging starts against the Pirates and Braves. Hendricks has historically been one of the most consistent pitchers in the league with a career 3.17 ERA and 1.11 WHIP. The veteran will carry a 1-2 record with a 5.79 ERA into his next matchup on Wednesday versus a Braves offense that tore him apart for seven hits and seven runs last Sunday.
