Nico Hoerner Drives In Three Runs
4 years agoChicago Cubs second baseman Nico Hoerner went 3-for-4 with a walk, double and one RBI in Friday's victory versus the Milwaukee Brewers. Hoerner was called up on Tuesday and the prospect is expected to see a good amount of playing time at second base. He also played left field for the first time with the Cubs up 15-3 in the seventh inning. Hoerner had a strong spring hitting .364 with two home runs and 11 RBI, but lost out to David Bote in a close spring battle. Hoerner got a lot of run in 2020, but only hit .222 with no home runs and 13 RBI in 48 games. He is a good contact hitter, but doesn't offer much power. Hoerner isn't a player managers should rush to the waiver wire to grab, but he should be monitored in deeper leagues, especially for those seeking a second baseman.
