4 years agoMinnesota Twins pitcher Devin Smeltzer was optioned back to the team's alternate site following Saturday's loss to the Pirates. Smeltzer played a key role in the game, pitching 4 2/3 innings of one-run ball- no earned runs- in relief of starter Michael Pineda, who was roughed up for five runs in his outing. The move makes sense, considering Smeltzer won't be able to pitch again for several days. The team is expected to announce a corresponding move on Sunday.--Tim Capurso
