4 years agoKansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez (thumb) is being considered day-to-day after exiting Monday's contest with a jammed thumb, according to Anne Rogers of MLB.com. Perez appeared to have injured his thumb making a tag at the plate in the third inning, and was eventually replaced on defense in the sixth inning. Manager Mike Matheny said the team is optimistic that Perez will be fine, and that his early exit was so they could get him started on treatment. Perez may miss a game or two, but he should be back soon and continue his early season performance in which he is slashing .244/.287/.476 with five home runs and 12 RBI.--Michael Grennell - RotoBaller
