4 years agoNew York Mets infielder/outfielder Jeff McNeil belted his second home run of the season, a solo shot, in the Mets' 2-1 loss to the Red Sox on Tuesday. McNeil went 1-for-3 in the contest, with the homer and a strikeout. McNeil's homer accounted for the Mets' lone run in what was another rancid offensive performance for the team. McNeil, much like the rest of the Mets' offense with the exception of Brandon Nimmo and J.D. Davis, has struggled out of the gate in 2021. Through 17 games and 51 at-bats, he's slashing .196/.281/.353 with only two doubles, two HR, and five RBI. Notably, though, he has a 39.1% hard-hit rate in 2021, which is better than his career average of 32.8%. Fantasy managers should remain patient with McNeil who is too good of a hitter to remain in a funk like this for a prolonged period. He'll be a great source of batting average and on-base percentage ratios, to go with some power counting stats, when he eventually figures things out.--Nick Ritrivi - RotoBaller
