Aaron Nola Settles For Quality Start At St. Louis
4 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Aaron Nola allowed three runs in six innings pitched in a no-decision versus the Cardinals on Thursday. Nola was oh-so-close to six shutout innings, as Matt Carpenter's three-run homer ricocheted out of Roman Quinn's glove as the speedy center fielder almost made an incredible catch. Alas, Nola and his fantasy managers will need to settle for a QS with seven K's and a sub-one WHIP, not a bad floor to have from a starting pitcher these days. Through six starts, Nola has been his usual, dependable self pitching to a 3.11 ERA, 0.96 WHIP, with 39 strikeouts in 37 1/3 innings. He's got a great matchup next time out against a Brewers lineup that has the fourth-highest K-rate versus RHP.
