Jake Diekman Pitches Clean Eighth Inning To Earn First Win
4 years agoOakland Athletics relief pitcher Jake Diekman earned his first win of the season Thursday against the Rays after he pitched a scoreless eighth inning. Diekman picked up a strikeout to help the A's win their last game of an East Coast swing. The 34-year-old lefty was a popular addition in fantasy after Trevor Rosenthal (shoulder) landed on the injured list, but it has been Lou Trivino who has seized the closer role, picking up his fourth of the season today. Diekman has been good in a setup role, however, as he's sporting a 2.16 ERA, a 1.06 WHIP, and 14 strikeouts through 11 1/3 innings. Diekman has value in any league that rewards holds as well as roto leagues 15-teams and deeper.
