4 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Marcus Stroman (hamstring) went five very effective innings against the Phillies on Friday before being pulled due to hamstring tightness. In his five innings of work, Stroman allowed only three hits and one walk while striking out eight. Though he allowed two runs, neither was earned. It was a nice bounce-back start for Stroman who struggled last Saturday against the Nationals. Despite the strong start and allowing no earned runs, Stroman (3-2) was tagged with the loss as the Mets fell 2-1. Stroman now owns an impressive 1.86 ERA, a 0.93 WHIP, and a 23:6 K:BB in 29 innings pitched on the season. After the game, Mets manager Luis Rojas and Stroman were both optimistic that Stroman would make his next scheduled start, claiming that his removal was precautionary in nature. We should know more about Stroman's hamstring situation, and whether he will face the Cardinals on Wednesday, in the next day or so. If active, managers should continue to roll with Stroman who is putting together an impressive campaign so far in 2021.--Nick Ritrivi - RotoBaller
