Ian Happ Exits After Scary Collision
4 years agoChicago Cubs outfielder Ian Happ has left Sunday's contest in the bottom of the eighth inning. Happ and second baseman Nico Hoerner collided going after a fly ball that Hoerner would catch. Happ was down for a while and tried to walk off under his own power, but would wind up going off the field on a cart. Happ finishes the game going 3-for-5 with a three-run home run and three runs scored. More should be known on his status as the evening goes on. If Happ misses time, outfielder Jake Marisnick would be the biggest beneficiary. Marisnick can remain on the waiver wire for now. With Happ out, catcher Willson Contreras (thigh) replaced him in the lineup. Contreras has been dealing with a thigh injury, but the Cubs had no one else on their bench.
