4 years agoMinnesota Twins catcher Mitch Garver went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run in Sunday's blowout win over the Royals. Garver's fifth homer of the year was a no-doubter, traveling 436 feet at an exit velocity of 107.2 MPH. One of his biggest problems from a down 2020 season was his inability to punish fastballs- an aspect of his game that made him so deadly in 2019. Through 22 games, Garver has already hit more homers on fastballs than all of 2020 and owns a .548 slugging percentage against the pitch after posting just a .359 mark last year. He's still striking out far too much, but it's a good sign that the underlying power numbers are starting to look like the ones he recorded in 2019.--Tim Capurso
