Daniel Bard Melts Down In Sunday's Loss To Arizona
4 years agoColorado Rockies right-hander Daniel Bard took a loss on Sunday when he allowed four runs on four hits and a walk over 1/3 of an inning in an 8-4 loss to the Diamondbacks. Bard entered in the bottom of the eighth inning to preserve a 4-4 tie but ran into trouble immediately after he walked Josh VanMeter to lead things off. He then allowed a single, a triple, and back-to-back doubles as the D-Backs put up four runs on him. He ended up taking the loss after the rough outing. Bard has looked very shaky over his last five appearances, blowing two saves while taking two losses. He has an ugly 9.00 ERA and 2.33 WHIP over nine innings this year. He still should get the next save opportunity for the Rockies but he's on thin ice.
