Jose Alvarado Implodes On Sunday Night Baseball
4 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies relief pitcher Jose Alvarado allowed three runs without recording an out against the Mets on Sunday Night Baseball. Oof. This one surely cost some fantasy managers ERA and WHIP in head-to-head leagues. Alvarado couldn't find the plate, throwing only three of 11 pitches for strikes. The silver lining for Alvarado and his fantasy managers is the rest of the Philly bullpen was also bad so his role as the primary setup man for Hector Neris should be secure. When Alvarado is on he's one of the most unhittable relievers in the game with a near-100 MPH fastball and a devastating slider. If you were trusting Alvarado in lineups before this game there's no reason to give up on him after one bad outing. He doesn't have much mixed-league value, however, except in leagues that reward holds and deeper leagues.
