Joc Pederson Activated And Leading Off On Monday
4 years agoThe Chicago Cubs have activated outfielder Joc Pederson (wrist) from the 10-day injured list on Monday. The slugger has been absent since April 21 and will return just in time to face his former team, the Los Angeles Dodgers. Pederson hit eight home runs during the spring, but has really struggled during the regular season. Pederson has just seven hits in 51 at-bats this season with one home run and four RBI. The slugger will need to get going to be valuable in deeper leagues, but will have plenty of opportunities as an everyday player for the Cubs. Second baseman David Bote and outfielder Jake Marisnick will be hurt the most in terms of playing time with Pederson back in the lineup. Manager David Ross has elected to throw him straight into the fire by batting him first on Monday versus Walker Buehler. Relief pitcher Keegan Thompson has been sent to the Cubs alternative training site to make room for the outfielder.
