Dustin May To Undergo Tommy John Surgery
4 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Dustin May (elbow) has suffered UCL damage and will undergo Tommy John surgery, according to Juan Toribio of MLB.com. May exited his start on Saturday in pain after throwing a pitch in the second inning, and was placed on the injured list on Sunday. Tests have shown that May damaged his UCL, and the decision was made for May to undergo reconstructive surgery on May 11. Toribio reports that Dr. Neal ElAttrache will be performing the procedure. The Dodgers have not yet formalized who will replace May in the rotation, as May will finish the season 1-1 with a 2.74 ERA and 37.6 percent strikeout rate in 23 innings of work. David Price and Tony Gonsolin are possible replacements for May in the Dodgers rotation once they come off the injured list.
