4 years agoTampa Bay Rays relief pitcher Pete Fairbanks (shoulder) is getting close to being activated from the injured list, according to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times. Fairbanks last played on April 6 before he was placed on the 10-day injured list with a strained rotator cuff. Manager Kevin Cash said that Fairbanks threw a 12-14 pitch simulated inning on Monday and was looking good after the session. He will be reevaluated on Tuesday, but signs are pointing towards a return sooner than later. Diego Castillo looks to have control of the closer role in Tampa Bay at the moment, but Fairbanks should see plenty of time pitching in high-leverage situations, and he'll be a good option in SV/HLD formats.--Michael Grennell - RotoBaller
