Jose Alvarado Records Second Save On Wednesday
4 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies relief pitcher Jose Alvarado pitched a scoreless ninth inning against the Brewers on Wednesday to record his second save of the season. Alvarado walked one and struck out two in his first game back from a two-game suspension stemming from a benches-clearing incident on Friday night. This is the second day in a row a Phillie not named Hector Neris recorded a save as Sam Coonrod handled the ninth inning on Tuesday. Neris should still be considered the primary saves target in this bullpen, but manager Joe Girardi has made it clear he's not afraid to mix and match. Alvarado should be rostered in any league that rewards holds and has value in 15-plus team roto leagues.
