4 years agoNew York Mets relief pitcher Trevor May threw a clean eighth inning in the Mets' 4-1 win over the Cardinals on Thursday. Over his one inning of work, May recorded two strikeouts, did not allow a base runner, and picked up his second hold of the season. After an inauspicious debut with the Mets back on April 5 in which he allowed two earned runs in 1/3 inning pitched, May has not allowed another earned run in 11 straight games. He boasts a 1.59 ERA, a 0.97 WHIP, and 16 strikeouts in 11 1/3 IP on the season. May should certainly be rostered in all leagues that reward holds. In leagues that do not reward holds, May can still provide value in the form of elite ratios and strikeouts. He may even have an opportunity to pick up some saves if Edwin Diaz struggles or is unavailable on certain days, particularly while Seth Lugo (elbow) remains on the injured list.--Nick Ritrivi - RotoBaller
