Jacob deGrom Officially Placed On 10-Day Injured List
4 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Jacob deGrom (side) was officially placed on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to May 10, with right side tightness on Tuesday. As previously reported, deGrom's MRI exam was clean after he was forced to leave his start early on Sunday against the Arizona Diamondbacks with tightness in his right side. Despite the clean MRI, he is being placed on the 10-day IL as the Mets are, rightfully, being cautious with their ace. deGrom was pitching on Sunday for the first time since skipping a start due to discomfort in his right lat, and manager Luis Rojas said deGrom's new discomfort was in a different area than the prior issue. It remains possible that deGrom could miss just one start and return for the May 21-23 series against the Miami Marlins. Overall in 2021, deGrom is 3-2 with a dominant 0.68 ERA, a 0.60 WHIP, and 65 strikeouts in 40 innings pitched over six starts.
