Khalil Lee Called Up By Mets On Wednesday
4 years agoNew York Mets outfielder and seventh-ranked prospect Khalil Lee is being called up by the Mets in the wake of Albert Almora Jr.'s (shoulder) placement on the 10-day injured list. He will be active for the Mets' game on Wednesday against the Orioles. Lee, 22, was acquired by the Mets as part of the three-team trade last winter that sent Andrew Benintendi from Boston to Kansas City. He projects as a starting outfielder with strong defense, 15-to-20 home run power, and exceptional stolen base potential. In 2019, he finished with the second-highest stolen base total in the minors with 53 for the Double-A Northwest Arkansas Naturals. That said, Lee has had contact rate issues, which could drive up his strikeout rate and, correspondingly, adversely impact his batting average. Lee can be ignored in redraft formats, despite his call-up. He should, however, be rostered in dynasty formats as a future, potential OF3/4. The next 10 days could give us an early glimpse of Lee's potential in the majors.
