4 years agoColorado Rockies left-hander Austin Gomber took a no-decision on Wednesday when he allowed one unearned run on four hits with a walk and six strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings in a 3-2 win over the Padres in Game 2 of their doubleheader. This was Gomber's best start as a member of the Rockies as he nearly shut down the Padres over his 5 1/3 innings. He was charged with one unearned run as a Charlie Blackmon throwing error allowed Austin Nola to reach home after a Ha-Seong Kim double in the top of the second inning. Most importantly for Gomber, he only issued one free pass. He's now thrown just two walks over his previous three starts before surrendering 19 in his first five to begin the season. He still owns a 5.49 ERA and 1.35 WHIP across 39 1/3 innings (eight starts), which leaves a lot to be desired. He gets these same Padres in a road rematch in his next turn.--Jon Mathisen - RotoBaller
