4 years agoColorado Rockies right-hander Daniel Bard blew the save on Wednesday vs. the Padres in Game 2 of their doubleheader when he allowed one run on three hits with two strikeouts over 1 2/3 innings. The Rockies eventually won the game 3-2 in extra innings. Bard entered in the sixth inning with one out and one runner on to replace starter Austin Gomber. He was able to secure the next two outs and get out of the inning with the Rockies holding a 2-1 lead. He then came back out for the seventh inning to close the game out but allowed a double and two singles to tie the game up. It was Bard's third blown save of the year and is raised his ERA to a hideous 7.13 to go along with a 2.13 WHIP and 16:7 K/BB ratio over 12 2/3 innings. He's still been getting the bulk of ninth-inning work but sooner than later the team needs to move on from him.--Jon Mathisen - RotoBaller
