4 years agoNew York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo (finger), currently on the 10-day injured list with a left index finger contusion, will go on a rehab assignment before he returns to the team. According to manager Luis Rojas, the Mets want Nimmo to face competition before returning. It was originally believed Nimmo would return to the Mets prior to their weekend series which begins Friday against the Tampa Bay Rays. It now appears Nimmo's return will come sometime next week, provided he suffers no setbacks during his rehab games. With Kevin Pillar red hot at the plate, the Mets are in no rush to force Nimmo's return prematurely causing a setback in his recovery. Once he returns, as the Mets' leadoff hitter, he should continue to perform as a top-tier place setter with a solid batting average and an elite OBP for fantasy managers.--Nick Ritrivi - RotoBaller
