Zach Eflin Labors Through Six Innings Versus Nationals
3 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Zach Eflin allowed five runs in six innings while taking the loss Thursday afternoon in Washington. Eflin was blitzed in the first inning allowing two separate two-run homers before some fans were settled into their seats. The right-hander settled down after that, lasting five more innings with nine strikeouts, but the damage was done. Eflin will carry a solid 3.86 ERA and 1.17 WHIP into his next start versus the Marlins. Miami has the third-highest strikeout rate against right-handed pitching so fire up Eflin with confidence despite today's poor outing.
